Update on Officer-Involved Shooting at Northeast 7th and Lloyd

On Monday March 4, 2013, at approximately 10:45 p.m., two Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct encountered an armed man in a parking garage located at Northeast 7th Avenue and Lloyd Boulevard.

Shots were fired, resulting in the male adult suspect being hit by police gunfire. The suspect was transported to a Portland hospital for treatment. His name, age or condition is not being released at this time.

No officers were injured during this shooting.

After securing the scene, standard officer-involved shooting protocols were followed by North Precinct Command.

Homicide detectives and Criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division are in the very early stages of this investigation.

Northeast 7th Avenue, from Lloyd Boulevard to Oregon Street is closed, as well as Northeast Irving Street from Grand to 7th Avenue. Streets will open as soon as the scene is cleared by investigators.

Representatives from the Chief's Office, Mayor's Office, Training Division, Internal Affairs Division, Office of Independent Police Review (IPR), Traumatic Incident Committee (TIC), and the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office all responded to the scene, as is standard protocol in any officer-involved shooting investigation.

No updates will be provided on this investigation until later in the day, Tuesday March 5, 2013.
