March 12, 2013 15:15On March 7, 2013, members of the Portland Police Bureau's Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) served a search warrant at a residence in the 17400 block of Southeast Powell Boulevard as part of a gun investigation.
The Gun Task Force and Gang Enforcement Team were investigating 26-year-old Swann Devon Carmicle after numerous reports in both Portland and Gresham of Carmicle being involved in assault, menacing and pointing guns at people.
After one incident, officers attempted to stop a vehicle associated with Carmicle but the driver didn't stop. Officers did not pursue the vehicle but did locate a handgun thrown from the vehicle.
On March 7, Carmicle was taken into custody without incident. During a search of the residence, a rifle was seized as well as various calibers of ammunition.
Carmicle was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on numerous gun-related charges as well as an indictment warrant on a 2010 gun case.
The case will be presented to the U.S. Attorney's Office for possible Federal prosecution.
The Portland Police Bureau Gang Enforcement Team and Gun Task Force are continuing to actively investigate gang and gun crimes in the City of Portland.
