Portland Police Arrest Singer 'Beth Ditto' for Disorderly Conduct on North Mississippi Avenue

March 18, 2013 17:35

On Saturday March 16, 2013, just before 1:00 a.m., Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct were dispatched on a welfare check of a woman in the street shouting and blocking traffic outside the Bungalow Bar, located at 4205 North Mississippi Avenue.

Officers arrived and contacted 32-year-old Mary Beth Patterson, who was standing in the middle of the street with her arms extended from her sides like an airplane. Ms. Patterson was shouting (unknown exactly what) as she blocked vehicular traffic. Four cars were stopped in the road and one driver was honking at Ms. Patterson and yelling for her to get out of the street.

Ms. Patterson did not respond to police commands to get out of the street so she was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Multnomah County Jail on one count of Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree. Ms. Patterson was released a short time later on her own recognizance.

Although not known to the officers at the time of her arrest, Ms. Patterson apparently is a singer who goes by the name "Beth Ditto."

This information is being released due to numerous media requests, reference Portland Police Bureau Case #13-21155.
