On Monday March 25, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to East Precinct responded to a call from a community member who told police that the suspect in a recent church burglary was walking near Southeast 55th Avenue and Woodward Street.

Officers arrived in the area and contacted the man, 45-year-old Jeffrey Dwayne Wilson, and took him into custody.

Burglary Detectives interviewed Wilson about recent burglaries at the Central Christian Church, located at 1844 Southeast Cesar Chavez Boulevard. The burglaries occurred on February 25 and March 24, 2013.

Based on their investigation, Wilson was charged with two counts of Burglary in the Second Degree. Detectives are continuing to investigate the possibility that Wilson has been involved in other burglaries but no additional charges are pending at this time.

This arrest was made possible due to multiple tips from the community about the burglary and the suspect's identification.
