Portland Police Investigating an Armed Robbery at an ATM in North Portland's St. John's Neighborhood

On Wednesday April 17, 2013, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to the report of an armed robbery at the Bank of American ATM at North Chicago Avenue and Lombard Street.

Officers arrived in the area and contacted the victim at his residence nearby. The victim told police that he drove from his house to the ATM, where he got some money then got back into his car. The victim told police that the suspect ran from across North Chicago towards the victim as he was seated in his car. The suspect demanded money from the victim, while displaying the gun.

The victim refused to give the suspect money and the suspect hit the victim in the head with the gun then ran away. The victim did not require any medical attention.

The suspect is described as an African American male, average build, armed with a handgun and was last seen running westbound on North Lombard Street.

Several police officers, including a K-9 Unit, conducted an extensive neighborhood search but did not locate anyone matching the suspect's description.
