UPDATE - ARREST: Portland Police Investigating Reported Kidnapping - Suspect in Custody, Everyone Safe

Investigators have arrested the driver, 21-year-old Jamiryz A. Doyle in connection with this investigation. When officers stopped the vehicle on I-5, they observed a handgun inside the vehicle.

Investigators determined that Doyle was involved in a dispute with two women known to him, resulting in the 9-1-1 call of a possible kidnapping.

Doyle was charged with Altering the Serial Number of a Firearm and Menacing and booked into the Multnomah County Jail.

He will be arraigned on Friday.



This morning, Thursday April 18, 2013, at approximately 4:15 a.m., Portland Police responded to Southeast 30th Avenue and Belmont Street on the report of a possible kidnapping. Officers arrived in the area and spoke to the caller and other officers began looking for the reported vehicle, a silver Chevy Impala.

Officers located the vehicle and stopped it on I-5 northbound near Rosa Parks, temporarily closing the freeway to perform the traffic stop. A male and a female who were in the vehicle have both been detained.

The freeway is now open and the vehicle will be towed from the scene as officers continue to investigate.

All parties, the caller and the two people in the vehicle, have been accounted for and appear to know each other.

No further information can be released at this time as this is an ongoing investigation.
