UPDATE: Metro Bomb Squad Responding to a Suspicious Vehicle in North Portland

The Metro Bomb Squad has determined that the vehicle was safe and did not contain any suspicious material.

The area is now clear and area businesses have assumed normal operation.

This morning, Tuesday April 30, 2013, at 10:15 a.m., Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the 9900 block of North Burgard Way. The vehicle is parked approximately 70' away from a commercial propane tank associated with a neighboring business.

Based on an initial observation, the Metropolitan Explosives Disposal Unit (MEDU) has been called to the scene to investigate further.

Both warehouses on either side of the vehicle have been evacuated and traffic is blocked on North Burgard Way.

The investigation is continuing.
