May 01, 2013 10:30Portland Police Traffic Investigators arrested 28-year-old Jessica Peterson for Assault in the Second Degree, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII) and Reckless Driving. Investigators believe that Peterson was impaired by narcotics at the time of the crash.
The motorcycle rider, 26-year-old Chase Dillon Ivey, remains in serious condition at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with injuries suffered during the crash.
Investigators determined that Peterson was driving eastbound on Portland Highway in an Acura Legend when she crossed over into oncoming traffic and struck Ivey on his Suzuki motorcycle as he traveled westbound. Peterson then struck a Volkswagen Cabrio that was also traveling westbound, driven by 32-year-old Nyla Jano, who was not injured during the crash.
Peterson was booked into the Multnomah County Jail and will be arraigned today.

This evening, Tuesday April 30, 2013, at 10:11 p.m., Portland Police assigned to North Precinct responded to the report of a motorcycle and car crash in the 4600 block of Northeast Portland Highway.
Portland Police and Portland Fire & Rescue arrived and located a motorcycle rider down, suffering from traumatic injuries. The motorcycle rider, believed to be an adult male, has been transported to a Portland hospital for treatment.
The driver of the car, an adult female, remained at the crash scene and has been taken into custody by officers. Preliminary information indicates the driver may be under the influence of intoxicants.
The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team (MCT) is responding to conduct an investigation.
Portland Highway is closed in both directions temporarily as officers process the crash scene.
No updates on this case will be provided until after 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
