UPDATE - FOUND SAFE: Portland Police Searching Southeast Portland for Missing Elderly Woman with Dementia

Family members have just located missing 86-year-old Jean Gibson at Southeast 52nd Avenue and Woodstock Street and she is safe.



The Portland Police Bureau is asking for the public's help in locating 86-year-old Jean Gibson, who was reported missing to police at about 2:30 p.m., this afternoon, May 3, 2013.

Gibson suffers from dementia, and is believed to have wandered away from her residence, in the 5300 block of Southeast 47th Avenue, near Woodstock Park. No foul play is suspected.

Missing Persons Unit detectives and the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Search & Rescue have been activated, and state-certified K-9 tracking teams are en route to assist in the search.

Gibson is described as a white female, 86 years old, 5'2", 140 pounds, with graying brown hair to her collar (somewhat longer than shown in the attached photo), and brown eyes. She is wearing glasses, and possibly an unknown color blouse and skirt. Gibson may not be wearing her dentures.

Anyone with information about Gibson's whereabouts is asked to immediately call 9-1-1. Anyone with additional information about this case is asked to call Detective Lori Fonken, at 503-823-1081.
