UPDATE: Pedestrian Struck by a Vehicle in Southeast Portland's Montavilla Neighborhood

The pedestrian struck this morning is a 15-year-old female and she remains in critical condition at a Portland hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators determined that the girl ran eastbound across 82nd Avenue to catch a northbound bus. She appeared to be in a crosswalk, but crossed against the signal and was struck by a northbound silver 2003 Mercedes S430 four-door, driven by a 66-year-old male.

The driver remained at the scene and has cooperated with investigators. It does not appear that the driver was impaired by intoxicants.

No citations have been issued and the crash is still under investigation.



This morning, Monday June 3, 2013, at 8:49 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to Southeast 82nd Avenue and Mill Street on the report of a pedestrian struck by a car.

Portland Police and Portland Fire & Rescue personnel arrived and began treating the pedestrian, believed to be a teenage female. She has been transported to a Portland hospital with critical injuries.

The driver has remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

All traffic on 82nd Avenue is closed from Hawthorne Boulevard to Mill Avenue.

The Traffic Division is investigating the crash and updates will be provided when they become available.
