UPDATE: Metro Bomb Squad Responding to Unknown Explosion in North Portland's Arbor Lodge Neighborhood

Members of the Bomb Squad determined that today's explosion was caused by a small pipe-bomb device. No suspect information is available and there is no apparent motive.

This morning, Wednesday June 19, 2013, at 9:18 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report of an explosion behind Tom's Pizza, located at 2630 North Lombard Street.

Officers arrived at the scene and located evidence of some kind of small explosion. There are no injuries and property damage appears to be minor.

There does not appear to be any danger to the community.

The Metropolitan Explosives Disposal Unit (MEDU) is responding to conduct an investigation into the explosion. The cause is not known at this time and the case is under investigation.

The only traffic impact is an alleyway that runs between North Wilbur and Burrage Avenues.
