UPDATE: Shooting Investigation in North Portland's Portsmouth Neighborhood - One Injured

The victim in last night's shooting has been identified as 18-year-old Oscar Alvarez-Ramirez. Alvarez-Ramirez suffered multiple gunshot wounds and remains in a Portland hospital recovering from his injuries. He is expected to survive.

There is very little suspect information in this case and the Gang Enforcement Team is investigating the shooting.

This evening, Tuesday July 2, 2013, at 9:33 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report of a shooting in the 9000 block of North Foss Street. As officers were enroute, additional information was broadcast that the male victim was lying on the corner of North Alaska Street and Chautauqua Boulevard.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and located the male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim has been transported to a Portland hospital. His condition is not known at this time.

Preliminary information indicates that this was a drive-by shooting and the suspect vehicle left the area eastbound on North Alaska Street.

Traffic in the area is affected as officers begin a shooting investigation.
