The bicycle rider involved in this morning's crash has been identified as 47-year-old Steven Odell. He remains in a Portland hospital being treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Oldsmobile Cutlass has been identified as 34-year-old Tasha Brown.

Based on witness statements and the crash investigation, officers believe that Odell was riding his bike southbound on 28th Avenue (not 29th as initially reported) and turned left onto Killingsworth without coming to a complete stop. Brown as driving westbound on Killingsworth Street and had the right-of-way when the collision occurred.

No citations have been issued at this point and the case remains under investigation.



This morning, Friday July 12, 2013, at 8:18 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to Northeast 28th Avenue and Killingsworth Street on the report of a bicyclist struck by a vehicle.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and contacted the bicyclist and the driver, both of whom had injuries as a result of the crash. The bicyclist was transported to a Portland hospital with traumatic but not life-threatening injuries. The driver was also transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary information indicates that the bicycle rider was riding southbound on 29th Avenue and the vehicle was being driven westbound on Killingsworth Street when the collision occurred.

The Traffic Division is investigating and updates will be provided when they become available.
