July 15, 2013 16:20This morning, Monday July 15, 2013, at 5:30 a.m., North Precinct officers attempted to stop a 1994 Chevy Suburban for speeding on Northeast Sandy Boulevard at Killingsworth Street. The driver, later identified as 41-year-old August Lockwood, sped away without stopping westbound on Killingsworth.
Officers pursued the vehicle and attempted several Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuvers before eventually getting the vehicle stopped on Northeast 82nd Avenue and Prescott Street.
Lockwood refused commands to keep his hands up and climbed into the back seat of the Suburban. Officers broke out the back window of the vehicle and took Lockwood into custody. The passenger, 27-year-old Cynthia Ann McCraw, was arrested without incident.
During an inventory of the vehicle, officers located a loaded handgun.
Lockwood was charged with Attempted Assault in the Second Degree, Delivery of Marijuana, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Attempt to Elude by Vehicle, Reckless Endangerment, and Reckless Driving and booked into the Multnomah County Jail.
McCraw was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on a Probation Violation.
