UPDATE #2: TriMet Bus Operator Stabbed in Southeast Portland's Lents Neighborhood

The TriMet bus operator injured in yesterday's stabbing has been identified as 40-year-old Fadi Hamad.

Detectives and the Transit Police are continuing to seek the public's help in locating the suspect.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s, 5'9" tall, medium build, medium length brown hair, unshaven face with several scars, and a black and white "checkerboard" tattoo on the front of his neck.

The injured TriMet bus operator was transported to a Portland hospital with non-life-threatening stab wounds.

Preliminary information indicates that the bus operator was exiting a permanent TriMet break room facility underneath I-205 and was confronted by the suspect.

After the stabbing, the victim walked to another bus and had the operator call 9-1-1.

TriMet is working with Transit Police to locate any video which might aid in the identification and capture of the suspect.

This afternoon, Wednesday July 17, 2013, at 2:45 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report that a TriMet bus operator was stabbed.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and contacted the driver at Southeast 94th Avenue and Foster Road.

Preliminary information indicates that the suspect fled the area westbound on Foster Road.

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-30s, wearing black pants, a green t-shirt, with brown hair and tattoos on his neck.

No additional information is available at this time and updates will be provided when they become available.
