UPDATE #2: Brooklyn Park Closed in Southeast Portland for Suspicious Device - Suspect in Custody

49-year-old Michael Daniel Moore was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Menacing, and Manufacturing and Possessing a Destructive Device.

Moore will be arraigned on Monday.

The Bomb Squad responded to Brooklyn Park and was able to disable the suspicious device. Bomb Techs examined the device and determined that it was a small homemade explosive device in a small plastic bottle.

Brooklyn Park has been reopened. The name of the suspect and charges will be released after he is booked into jail.

This morning, Sunday July 21, 2013, at 10:41 a.m., Central Precinct officers were flagged down at Brooklyn Park, located at 1001 Southeast Haig Street, on the report of a man making threats with a gun.

Officers located the suspect, a 49-year-old male, and took him into custody. Officers conducting an inventory of his bag located two handguns and a suspicious device.

Based on a preliminary examination, officers called for the Metropolitan Explosives Disposal Unit (MEDU) to respond to the scene.

Brooklyn Park is temporarily closed as the investigation continues.
