On Wednesday August 21, 2013, at 7:00 a.m., the Portland Police Bureau's annual Izzy's Kids Shop with a Cop program will occur at the Gateway Fred Meyer store, located at 1111 Northeast 102nd Avenue.

KPTV Fox 12's Andy Carson will be live at Fred Meyer during the morning newscast.

This year marks the 11-year anniversary of Shop with a Cop, where police officers and 210 kids shop for a morning together for back to school clothing. The majority of the kids are selected from the Boys and Girls Club of Portland, and are selected based on financial need and their volunteer efforts in the community. These kids have worked very hard to earn this opportunity.

The Portland Police Sunshine Division and Fred Meyer have partnered to fund the program and have generously donated close to $30,000. In addition to the cash donation, Fred Meyer provides a significant discount off clothing as well as a backpack with school supplies.

The Sunshine Division funds the program though its Izzy's Kids program. Izzy's Kids, which began in 1981 and is in honor of longtime board member Isabel Hoyt, provides funds so that Portland Police Officers can take any child in need shopping for school clothes. This program operates year-round.

Over the past 11 years, members of the Portland Police Bureau have helped provide local children with more than $500,000 in school clothing and supplies.

Interested media is invited to attend the event. Portland Police Bureau Lieutenant Larry Graham will be the point-of-contact for media at Fred Meyer about Shop with a Cop.
