On Sunday September 8, 2013, at 9:53 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report of a robbery at Northeast 21st Avenue and Alberta Street. Officers arrived and contacted the victim who told police that three males pushed her and robbed her of her iPhone.
Several officers, including a Police K-9, searched the neighborhood and located two suspects at Northeast 22nd Avenue and Jarrett Street and the third at Northeast 18th Avenue and Ainsworth Street.
All three suspects were positively identified by the victim and the phone was recovered by police.
The three suspects were identified as 15-year-old Samaryia Lambert, 15-year-old Aureaunte Bennett and 16-year-old Anthony Madison.
During the course of this investigation, Robbery detectives determined that Lambert was the suspect in an August 19, 2013 assault and robbery at Northeast 17th Avenue and Klickitat Street, where the victim was assaulted and knocked off his bicycle.
Robbery detectives are reviewing other reports to determine if any of the suspects may have been involved in other assaults or robberies in Portland.
All three suspects were lodged at the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Hall. Lambert was charged with two counts of Robbery in the Second Degree and one count of Assault in the Third Degree. Bennett and Madison were each charged with one count of Robbery in the Second Degree. Their names have been released because they have been charged with a Measure 11 crime (Robbery II).
The Portland Police Bureau would like to remind people that iPhones are a valuable commodity and are often quickly re-sold after being stolen. Community members are encouraged to enable the "Find My iPhone" app, password protect their phone, and not to carry them around openly.
Anyone with information about this group is asked to contact Detective Robert Hollins at (503) 823-3441 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
