September 12, 2013 21:51

This morning, Thursday September 12, 2013, Central Precinct officers were assisting the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) with a sidewalk clean-up along Southwest Madison Street, 3rd to 4th Avenues, when 39-year-old Jason Lee Elmore rode a bicycle onto the sidewalk where officers were standing.

Officers recognized the bicycle as the one stolen from the Portland Building on September 6, 2013, from the new PBOT Director Leat Treat. Ms. Treat tweeted a photo of her stolen bike, which she named "Beatrice" and officers were aware of the theft.

Elmore was taken into custody and booked into the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of Theft in the Second Degree (by receiving).

"Beatrice" was returned to Ms. Treat at the Portland Building.
