On Monday, September 9, 2013, the Wells Fargo Bank branch located at 845 NW 11th Avenue was robbed at gunpoint. The suspect fled on foot, stealing an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect left his car keys in the bank, which resulted in his fleeing into a nearby office building.
Officers tracked the suspect to 721 Northwest 10th Avenue, where the suspect, later identified as 57-year-old Andrew Frank Laviguer, was located and arrested. A replica handgun was recovered from Laviguer.
Laviguer had an outstanding warrant out of the US Marshals Service for Escape. Subsequent investigation has identified Laviguer as the primary suspect in the following robberies across the Pacific Northwest:
August 14, 2013 robbery of the Columbia Bank located at 10735 Northeast Halsey Street in Portland, Oregon.
August 30, 2013 Robbery of the Key Bank in the White Center neighborhood of unincorporated King County, Washington (9655 17 Avenue SW).
September 4, 2013 robbery of the Sterling Savings Bank in Tacoma, Washington (4802 Tacoma Mall Boulevard).
September 7, 2013 robbery of the Super 8 motel in Wilsonville, Oregon (25438 SW Parkway Avenue).
September 8, 2013 robbery of the Rodeway Inn in Salem, Oregon (3340 Astoria Way NE).
This ongoing investigation has been the result of a collaborative effort between the Portland (OR) Police Bureau, the Seattle and Portland offices of the FBI, the King County Sheriff's Office, the Salem (OR) Police Department, the Tacoma (WA) Police Department, and the Wilsonville (OR) Police Department (Clackamas County Sheriff's Office).
Laviguer is currently in custody at the Multnomah County Jail on his outstanding arrest warrant. Additional charges are being considered through the US Attorney's Office, and each of the local jurisdictions prosecutor's offices.
