Gang Enforcement Team Investigating an Early Morning Shooting in the Cully Neighborhood

This morning, Saturday September 14, 2013, at 5:08 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to the 6100 block of Northeast Simpson Street on the report of multiple gunshots heard in the area.

Officers arrived in the area but did not locate any victims, crime scene or evidence of a shooting.

At 6:08 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center on the report of a walk-in gunshot victim. Officers contacted the victim, a 24-year-old male, who was suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was not cooperative with investigators.

Gang Enforcement Team investigators responded to the hospital and also returned to the area of Northeast 61st Avenue and Simpson Street and located a crime scene.

At this point, investigators do not know if the shots fired call and the walk-in shooting victim are related.
