Yesterday, Monday September 30, 2013, Portland Police officers located Norris Newman safe and returned him to his care facility.

Detectives from the Portland Police Bureau's Missing Persons Unit are asking for the public's help in locating 73-year-old Norris Newman, who went missing on foot from his care facility, located in the 12700 block of Southeast Holgate Street, during the early morning hours on September 30, 2013.

Newman is not his own legal guardian, and suffers from various medical and mental health conditions, including mild dementia, which, if left untreated, could endanger his welfare.

This is the second time Newman has been reported missing to police this month. It has been determined that Newman was able to circumvent security measures put in place to prevent him from walking away from his secure residential facility, where he needs to be returned, as soon as possible.

Newman is described as a white male, 73 years old, 5'7", 180 pounds, with thinning gray hair and brown eyes. He wears glasses and is missing all his teeth. There is no clothing description available.

Anyone who sees Newman is asked not to approach him, but to immediately call 9-1-1. Anyone with additional information about this case is asked to contact Detective Mike Weinstein, at (503) 823-0446.
