Stabbing in Old Town Injures 38-Year-Old Man - Suspect Fled the Scene

This morning, Thursday October 10, 2013, at 11:24 a.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the report of a stabbing at Northwest 9th Avenue and Couch Street.

Officers arrived and located the 38-year-old male victim suffering from a traumatic injury to his torso. Medical personnel transported the victim to a Portland hospital for treatment. The victim's current condition is not known but he was awake and alert at the scene.

Officers talked to witnesses at the scene who described the suspect as white male in his mid-30s, 5'7" tall, medium build, wearing a maroon jacket, white t-shirt, and gray pants, armed with a knife. Witnesses told police that the suspect was last seen running northbound on 9th Avenue.

Witnesses described a disturbance between the two men prior to the stabbing.
