Detectives are continuing to investigate the shooting death of 15-year-old Abukar Madey and the injuries to 22-year-old Lucio Alejandro Ramirez-Navarro, aka Alex Ramirez.
Detectives have learned that Madey and Ramirez were associated to one another and that Ramirez is a documented member of a Hispanic street gang in Portland.
Detectives have not ruled out the possibility that the shooting is gang-related.
This investigation started on Friday October 11, 2013, at 11:56 p.m., when East Precinct officers responded to the report of a shooting at the Holgate Transit Station, located in the 9300 block of Southeast Holgate.
Officers arrived and located Ramirez suffering from several gunshot wounds at Southeast 92nd Avenue and Holgate Boulevard. Ramirez was transported to a Portland hospital by medical personnel for treatment to multiple gunshot wounds. He remains in the hospital recovering from his injuries.
Officers checking the area for a crime scene located Madey next to the MAX platform. Madey was suffering from a head wound and was transported to a Portland hospital with traumatic, life-threatening injuries. Madey died on Sunday morning and an autopsy performed by the Oregon State Medical Examiner determined that he died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Detectives believe that there may be witnesses to the shooting that have not come forward with information.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Detective Mark Slater at (503) 823-9319 or Detective Erik Kammerer at (503) 823-0762.
