On October 9, 2013, 35-year-old Andrew Paul Jacoby was arrested in connection with the March 2013 armed robbery at Nick's Double-Up Deli in Southeast Portland. An anonymous tip given to Crime Stoppers of Oregon helped detectives identify Jacoby as the suspect.
This investigation started on Tuesday March 19, 2013, at approximately 3:00 p.m., when Portland Police officers assigned to East Precinct responded to the report of an armed robbery at Nick's Double-Up Deli, located at 8028 Southeast Powell Boulevard, Suite 101.
Officers arrived in the area and contacted the victim who told police that the suspect was armed with a handgun as he demanded money. The victim told police that he didn't give the suspect any money and that they struggled over the handgun, causing the suspect to drop a loaded handgun magazine on the ground before running out the door. Two customers assisted the victim during the struggle with the suspect.
Officers checked the neighborhood but did not locate anyone matching the suspect's description.
The victim received a minor hand injury during the struggle over the gun but did not require medical attention.
Detectives recovered forensic evidence at the scene, which combined with the anonymous tip, was later used to identify the suspect.
Jacoby was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of Robbery in the First Degree.
Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information, reported to Crime Stoppers, that leads to an arrest in or any unsolved felony crimes, and tipsters can remain anonymous.
