UPDAT #2: SERT Responding to Powellhurst-Gilbert Neighborhood to Search for Possible Suspect in a Homicide

SERT has completed searching the neighborhood and is turning over the scene to Homicide detectives.

At approximately the same time as the shooting near 124th and Powell, 1:38 a.m., there was a report of shots fired on Southeast Division at the I-205 southbound off-ramp. Officers located a crime scene there but no victims or suspects. The southbound off-ramp to Division is closed at this time as part of that investigation. It is not clear if this shooting is related to the 124th and Powell shooting.

At 2:55 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to Legacy Emanuel Hospital on the report of a walk-in gunshot victim. North Precinct officers are investigating that incident and it is not clear if it is related to either of the two reported shootings in East Precinct.

At 3:33 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to Portland Adventist Medical Center on the report of a walk-in gunshot victim. East Precinct officers are investigating that incident and it is not clear if it is related to either of the two reported shootings in East Precinct.

This morning, Friday November 1, 2013, at 1:38 a.m. East Precinct officers were in the area of Southeast 124th Avenue and Powell Boulevard after responding to calls about gunshots heard in the area.

Responding officers got into a short pursuit with a vehicle leaving the area, which crashed a few blocks away. The occupant or occupants ran from the vehicle and were lost in the neighborhood.

Officers checking the area of Southeast 124th Avenue and Powell Court located a person deceased outside an apartment.

A neighborhood perimeter has been established from Southeast 122nd to 132nd Avenues, Powell to Holgate Boulevards.

The Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) are responding to assist with a neighborhood search for the suspect or suspects that ran from the vehicle.

Residents of the area are asked to remain in their homes and to call 9-1-1 for any suspicious activity or noise.

The Gang Enforcement Team, Homicide detectives and the Forensic Evidence Division are responding to begin an investigation into the shooting.

Interested media is asked to stage at Southeast 122nd Avenue and Powell Boulevard and to not report tactical information as this is an active, ongoing tactical incident.

The Public Information Officer (PIO) will not be responding at this time.
