Police Investigating Possible Sex Abuse by a Customer at Northwest Portland Children's Play Facility

On Tuesday November 26, 2013, at 3:00 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the report of a possible sex abuse that occurred at Playdate PDX, located at 1434 NW 17th Avenue.

Officers spoke with the mother of a 5-year-old girl who told police that at approximately 11:45 a.m., her daughter was playing inside the play structure and reported to her mom that a man touched her inappropriately inside the structure.

The mother told Playdate PDX employees who were familiar with the man, who is a young adult with Down Syndrome. Employees spoke with the man's caregiver and they left the facility.

It was several hours later that the victim's mother called police.

Officers have been in contact with Playdate PDX management about the incident and they are cooperating with the investigation.

The suspect has not been identified.

The victim did not require any medical attention.
