This morning, Sunday December 15, 2013, at 12:43 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to 122nd Avenue and East Burnside Street on the report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

Officers arrived and located the pedestrian, a 29-year-old male, suffering from traumatic injuries. Officers began applying aid until medical personnel arrived and transported the man to a Portland hospital for treatment. He is expected to survive his injuries.

The driver, a 23-year-old female, remained at the scene and cooperated fully with the investigation.

Officers learned that the driver was traveling eastbound on Burnside in a 2000 Honda Civic and had a green light to continue across 122nd Avenue. The pedestrian stepped out from the MAX platform for eastbound MAX and into the lane of traffic where he was struck by the vehicle.

The driver was not impaired by drugs or alcohol and was driving within the speed limit according to witnesses.

No citations or charges have been issued and the case will be given to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office at the completion of the investigation.
