UPDATE: Major Crash Team Responding to Single Vehicle Fatal Crash on Northeast Marine Drive

The driver killed in last night's single vehicle crash on Marine Drive has been identified as 55-year-old Mary Augustine Yakutis-Suit of Sandy, Oregon.

Investigators are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash and do not know if speed, impairment or distraction were factors in the crash.

Portland Fire & Rescue and Port of Portland Police personnel assisted with the crash investigation.

This is Portland's 33rd traffic fatality of 2013.

This evening, Monday December 16, 2013, at 7:52 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report of a vehicle that went over the embankment on Northeast Marine Drive near 142nd Avenue.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and located the vehicle and the driver, who'd been ejected from the vehicle.

Preliminary information indicates that the vehicle was traveling westbound on Marine Drive and left the roadway in the 14600 block and rolled down the embankment towards the Columbia River. The driver was ejected and landed on the riverbank. Medical personnel responded and determined the driver was deceased.

The cause of the crash is not known at this time and there are no other vehicles involved in the crash.

Traffic on Marine Drive is closed to all traffic from 138th to 148th Avenues and will remain so until the crash scene has been examined by investigators.

The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team is responding to conduct a crash investigation.

No additional details are expected to be released this evening.
