UPDATE: Man Hit by MAX Train in Southeast Portland

The man hit by a southbound MAX train last night did not survive his injuries. 48-year-old Phu Van Nguyen, a resident of Southeast Portland's Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood, died at a Portland hospital on Sunday evening.

TriMet is continuing to investigate the incident and no further information is available.

East Precinct and Transit Police officers have responded to the report of a man stuck by a southbound MAX train at Southeast 94th Avenue and Division Street.

Portland Fire & Rescue personnel are assisting with attempts to free the injured man from under the train.

Southbound MAX service is disrupted at this time.

Updates will be provided when they become available.
