East Precinct officers disturbance call leads to recovery of a stolen firearm

This morning, January 1, 2014, at approximately 10:00 a.m., East Precinct police officers responded to a call of a disturbance involving a weapon. During the course of the investigation officers learned that a disturbance had occurred in the area of S.E. 134th Avenue, and S.E. Powell Boulevard. The disturbance escalated into a confrontation where a handgun was fired and at least one person suffered a minor injury by either a ricochet or by shrapnel from the bullet striking near him.

Officers identified a residence which they believed the person with the firearm had fled to and executed a search warrant on the location. The search warrant resulted in the recovery of a stolen firearm. Officers did not locate the suspect and are still investigating.
