On Tuesday January 7, 2014, at 2:39 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to a residence in the 2100 block of Southeast 148th Place on the report of a strong-arm robbery.
Officers arrived and contacted the victim, an 89-year-old woman, who told police that she had just returned home from her neighborhood Fred Meyer store and pulled into her driveway when an orange 1970s station wagon parked in front of her mailbox. The victim told police that a woman got out of the back seat of the station wagon and the victim told her that she couldn't park in front of the mailboxes.
The victim told officers that the woman approached her and grabbed her purse. The victim held onto her purse but the woman pulled harder and threw the victim to the ground. After getting the purse from the victim, the suspect and vehicle left the area.
The victim suffered several facial, hand and leg injuries and was treated at the scene by medical personnel and later at a Portland hospital.
The victim's purse contained a small amount of cash, credit and debit cards and other miscellaneous ID and property. The victim's glasses were also broken during the struggle.
The suspect is described as a white female in her 30s, 5'7" tall, medium build, riding in the back seat of an orange 1970s station wagon.
