UPDATE #2 - Major Crash Team Responding to Hit and Run Crash to a Pedestrian on Southeast Powell Boulevard

Earlier this morning, January 1, 2013, Traffic Division investigators located and impounded the suspect vehicle from in this incident. The vehicle was recovered in S.W. Portland and a suspect associated to the vehicle has been identified. The suspect has not been arrested. The investigation is ongoing and investigators are not releasing additional information at this time.

The victim in last night's hit and run crash has been identified as 22-year-old Max Martin. Martin remains in a Portland hospital in critical condition.

No additional suspect information is available and investigators want to hear from anyone who may have information on this case.

This evening, Thursday January 9, 2014, at 9:01 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to Southeast 31st Avenue and Powell Boulevard on the report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and located the male adult pedestrian suffering from traumatic injuries. The victim has been transported to a Portland hospital for treatment and his current condition is not known.

Preliminary information indicates that the pedestrian was crossing Powell Boulevard at 31st Avenue, in a crosswalk, from the South side to the North side of the street. As he crossed into the westbound lanes, a westbound car in the left lane stopped for him as he crossed but a different westbound car did not and struck him in the crosswalk.

The suspect vehicle is described as a white or silver vehicle, last seen driving away from the scene westbound on Powell Boulevard.

The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team is responding to conduct an investigation.

Southeast Powell Boulevard will be closed in both directions as investigators process the crash scene for evidence.
