The suspect in Saturday night's shooting, 43-year-old Thomas Elliott Hjelmeland (pronounced Yelm-Land), died this afternoon at a Portland hospital. The Oregon State Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death after an autopsy.

No arrests have been made in this case and there is still an ongoing investigation.

The suspect in Saturday night's shooting has been identified as 43-year-old Thomas Elliott Hjelmeland (pronounced Yelm-Land). Hjelmeland remains in critical condition at a Portland hospital and has not yet been charged in this case.

Shooting victim Brian Rizzo remains in critical condition.

No additional information is available and detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of this shooting.

The three victim's in Saturday night's shooting at the Mystic Gentleman's Club have been identified as follows:

26-year-old Brian Thomas Rizzo. Rizzo remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

31-year-old Gonzalo Zamora-Hernandez. Zamora-Hernandez was treated and released at a Portland hospital.

27-year-old Nichole Danielle Procter. Procter was treated and released at a Portland hospital.

The shooting suspect's identity is not being released until his family can be located and notified. He remains in critical but stable condition at a Portland hospital.

The person who returned fire, striking the suspect, has not been charged with a crime and continues to cooperate with the investigation. His identity will not be released at this time.

The investigation is continuing and no further details are expected to be released today.

On Saturday January 11, 2014, at 8:40 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of a shooting with multiple victims at Mystic Gentleman's Club, located at 9950 Southeast Stark Street.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and located four victims suffering gunshot wounds. Two of the victims were suffering from apparent life-threatening injuries, two others were suffering from non-life threatening injuries.

All four victims were transported to Portland hospitals for treatment.

A 26-year-old male security guard at Mystic remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

An adult male whose identity has not been confirmed remains in critical but stable condition.

A 31-year-old male and a 27-year-old female were treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

After a preliminary investigation, detectives believe that a gunman entered the bar and started shooting, striking the three victims. As the gunman left, another person in the bar returned fire, striking and critically injuring the suspect. The suspect is the unidentified male in critical but stable condition.

The person who returned fire striking the suspect is an adult male and he has not been arrested. He is cooperating with the investigation.

Detectives do not believe this shooting is gang-related and do not believe there are any additional suspects in this shooting.

The Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) has been in contact with the Police Bureau about the shooting and is working with East Precinct and the Drugs and Vice Division (DVD) on potential licensing issues at the Mystic Gentleman's Club.

The names of those involved will not be released until sometime on Monday and no additional information is available as this is an ongoing investigation.
