Bomb Squad investigators determined that the suspicious item was not an explosive but a discarded school project.

Officers are clearing tbe area and residents are returning to their homes.

This afternoon, Sunday March 9, 2014, at 3:14 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to North Trenton Street and North Haven Avenue on the report that someone saw a suspicious item lying in a field that resembled a possible small explosive device.

Officers arrived in the area and after a preliminary investigation requested the Metropolitan Explosives Disposal Unit (MEDU) to respond to the scene.

As a precaution, some area residents have been evacuated and others have been asked to shelter-in-place.
