This afternoon, Friday March 14, 2014, at 12:44 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the 7800 block of Southeast Flavel Street on the report of a male lying in the roadway surrounded by blood with a gun lying on top of him.
Officers and medical personnel arrived and confirmed that the 57-year-old male was deceased of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Officers learned that the man was involved in an argument with his wife at a nearby residence before walking outside and shooting himself in an apparent intentional act.
The Oregon State Medical Examiner has taken custody of the body and will perform an autopsy on Saturday.
