On Tuesday March 18, 2014, Transit Police Division officers arrested 53-year-old Darrell Stephen Rivera in connection with a February 2014 vandalism aboard a MAX train in North Portland.

Rivera was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of Criminal Mischief in the First Degree.

This investigation began on February 15, 2014, when Transit Police Division (TPD) officers responded to the report of a man who kicked out a window on a MAX train in North Portland.

On March 3, TPD officers released a surveillance image of the suspect, which quickly led to the identification of Rivera as the suspect.

On Monday March 17, a Multnomah County Grand Jury indicted Rivera on one count of Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, which led to his arrest on Tuesday.
