UPDATE - ARREST: Stabbing Injures Man in Downtown Portland - Suspect in Custody (Photo)

27-year-old Colby Lee Aplin was arrested and charged with Assault in the Second Degree after he was treated by medical personnel.

The victim, 65-year-old Larry Holm, was treated at a Portland hospital.

Detectives learned that the victim and suspect knew each other and that he suspect began acting irrationally in the car and stabbed Holm without provocation.

Aplin was booked into the Multnomah County Jail and will be arraigned today.



This evening, Wednesday March 26, 2014, at 9:44 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the report of a stabbing at Southwest 9th Avenue and Alder Street.

Officers arrived and contacted the victim, a male in his 60s, suffering from a stab wound to the head. He was transported to a Portland hospital with a traumatic, but not believed to be life-threatening injury.

The suspect was also contacted at the scene, in a vehicle, and taken into custody. The suspect, a male in his 20s, was suffering from an unknown medical issue and was being treated at the scene.

Preliminary information indicates that the stabbing occurred inside a parked car on the street.

There is no risk to the public and updates will be provided on Friday.
