UPDATE - Major Crash Team Investigating a Single Vehicle Traffic Fatality in North Portland

The man killed in Sunday's traffic fatality on North Interstate Avenue has been identified as 30-year-old Lamar Jaray Hart.

Investigators determined that Hart was driving a 2007 Ford Five Hundred sedan at a high rate of speed northbound on Interstate Avenue when he lost control and crashed into a power pole.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner is awaiting toxicology reports to determine if drugs and/or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

This morning, Sunday March 30, 2014, at 2:03 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report of a single vehicle crash at North Interstate Avenue and Tillamook Street.

Officers and medical personnel responded and located the vehicle crashed into a power pole along the MAX line. The driver and lone occupant, an adult male, was deceased.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner has taken custody of the deceased and will be conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team has responded to conduct an investigation.

Crews are working to free the vehicle from the power pole and clear up the MAX line before MAX begins service this morning.

No additional information will be available until Monday.
