The Explosive Devices Unit has determined that the device in this incident is not explosive and poses no risk to the public. OHSU's Department of Public Safety has detained the subject associated with this incident and is investigating. Access to OHSU has been re-opened. Additional inquiries regarding the status of the investigation should be directed to the OHSU Department of Public Safety.

###ORIGINAL MESSAGE###

Today, April 20, 2014 at 10:45 a.m., Central Precinct officers responded to OHSU to assist their Department of Public Safety regarding a subject in possession of what may be an explosive device. Officers have arrived and contained the area. The incident is ongoing and access to certain parts of OHSU has been blocked. Due to the fluid nature of the situation there is limited information at this time but it appears that officers and security have contacted the subject who is not longer in possession of the possible device. It has not been confirmed that the object is in fact an explosive device.

The Explosive Devices Unit is responding to assist with this call. US Veteran's Highway is currently blocked at Sam Jackson Parkway. Updates will follow as more information becomes available.
