The Portland Police Bureau is in the process of reviewing all its directives. On a frequent basis, the Bureau will post directives for public review and ask for comments.
Currently, the Bureau is asking for the community's feedback regarding its directives pertaining to juvenile custody. An incident in May 2013, involving the custody of a 9-year-old girl, has prompted the Bureau to form a workgroup to review its three juvenile custody directives. The workgroup will be looking at national best practices and the public's comments in order to update these policies:
* 640.70, Fingerprinting and Photographing Juveniles
* 850.30, Juveniles, Custody
* 870.50, Arrest, Felony Processing
Community members are encouraged to read the directives and provide feedback at: https://www.portlandoregon.gov/police/64975
The directives will remain posted and comments collected through Saturday, June 7, 2014.
