Detectives Responding to Northeast Portland's Cully Neighborhood for a Death Investigation

This morning, Monday May 12, 2014, at 3:04 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to the 5800 block of Northeast 59th Avenue on the report that neighbors found a deceased male, who appeared to have a gunshot wound, seated inside a parked vehicle.

Officers arrived and medical personnel arrived and checked inside the vehicle, where they located a deceased adult male.

Based on the preliminary investigation, officers have requested that Homicide detectives and Criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division respond to the scene to begin a death investigation.

It is not clear if the injuries are self-inflicted or homicidal violence.

No other information is available or anticipated until this afternoon.
