On Monday, Portland Police detectives detained and released the suspect, 47-year-old Lamar Lovette Hill, in connection with this investigation. The victim, 35-year-old Michael George Wallingford, remains in a Portland hospital in serious condition.
The investigation will be presented to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office for review and possible presentation to a Grand Jury.

On Sunday June 15, 2014, at 10:58 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to Pappy's Bar & Grill, located at 1144 Northeast 82nd Avenue, on the report of a fight and one person bleeding.
Officers and medical personnel arrived and located the victim, a male in his 30s, down in the parking lot behind the building. The victim was suffering from stab wound and was transported to a Portland hospital for treatment. The seriousness of the victim's injuries were not known until he reached the hospital where it was determined that his injuries may be life-threatening. The victim remains in critical condition at the hospital.
Officers learned that the victim and suspect may know each other and that they got into a fight in the parking lot. During the fight, the suspect stabbed the victim then fled the scene on foot.
The suspect is described as an African American male in his 40s, 5'8" tall, 175 to 195 pounds, and "nicely dressed."
