Old Town Stabbing Injures 33-Year-Old Man - Suspect Fled the Area

This evening, Tuesday June 17, 2014, at 7:27 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to Northwest 4th Avenue and Burnside Street on the report of a stabbing.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and located the victim, a 33-year-old male, suffering from two stab wounds. The victim was transported to a Portland hospital for treatment to the non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the victim, he was walking on the sidewalk between Northwest 3rd and 4th Avenues on the North side of Burnside Street. The victim saw a younger girl in an alcove among a group of transients and asked her why she was outside. A group of male transients in the next alcove stood up and confronted the victim and one of the group stabbed him.

The suspect with the knife was described as a white male in his 20s, skinny build, wearing a straight-brim baseball cap, a dark-colored hoody and pants.

Several officers checked the area but did not locate the suspect.
