On Saturday July 26, 2014, officers assigned to the Portland Police Bureau's Gang Enforcement Team (GET) located and arrested 20-year-old Alejandro Ray Vance Jr. in connection with a shooting that occurred in April 2014.
Vance Jr. is a documented member of a Portland street gang.
This investigation started on Monday April 28, 2014, at 5:36 p.m., when North Precinct officers responded to multiple reports of gunshots heard in the area of North Killingsworth Street and Minnesota Avenue.
Officers arrived in the area and located evidence of gunfire just South of Killingsworth, including two vehicle struck by bullets.
Officers canvassing the area attempted to contact Vance Jr., who ran from police and discarded a handgun, which was located and seized by officers. Vance Jr. was located and arrested shortly after and booked into the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
Over the past few months, GET detectives learned additional information that led to Vance Jr. being charged in connection with the shooting.
Vance was charged with Attempted Murder, Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Reckless Endangerment, Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Discharging a Firearm in the City, and Pointing a Firearm at Another.
Vance was arraigned on Monday July 28 in Multnomah County Court.
