On Thursday July 31, 2014, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Metro Gang Task Force concluded an investigation with the service of four search warrants and arrested two suspects.
The Metro Gang Task Force (MGTF) is a multi-agency Safe Streets Task Force involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Portland Police Bureau, the Tigard Police Department, and the Beaverton Police Department, and the United States Attorney's Office.
On Thursday, MGTF investigators contacted and arrested two suspects after a traffic stop near Northeast 90th Avenue and Sandy Boulevard. MGTF investigators were assisted by the Portland Police Bureau Gang Enforcement Team (GET) and the Drugs and Vice Division (DVD).
The suspects arrested are 34-year-old Eugene James Holbert II and his brother, 33-year-old Jamar Schabass Holbert.
Investigators then served two search warrants at the Cameo Motel, located at 4111 Northeast 82nd Avenue. Additional search warrants were then served at 315 North Alberta Street and a storage unit located in Northeast Portland.
Investigators seized more than $211,000 cash, four handguns, more than 2.2 pounds of powder cocaine, and approximately six ounces of crack cocaine.
The Holbert brothers were booked into the Multnomah County Jail and now face Federal charges of Distribution of Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
Portland Police Bureau Sgt. Jose Gonzalez, assigned to MGTF, will be at the Portland Police Bureau Property and Evidence Division at 1:00 p.m. today for media interested in viewing the seized evidence.
