UPDATE: Shooting and Robbery Investigation Underway in Southeast Portland's Powellhurst-Gilbert Neighborhood

Robbery detectives have learned that the suspect entered Dotty's and demanded money from the business. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, he began to leave followed by the shooting victim, who was a patron. The suspect shot her then ran out of the area.

This afternoon, Thursday August 7, 2014, at 3:04 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to Dotty's, located at 11926 Southeast Division Street, on the report of a robbery and shooting.

Officers and medical personnel responded and located the 58-year-old female victim suffering from a single gunshot wound. She has been transported to a Portland hospital for treatment for what appears to be a non-life-threatening injury.

Witnesses described the suspect to police as an African American male in his 20s, 5'6" tall, thin build, wearing dark clothes and carrying a handgun. The suspect was last seen running westbound on Division Street.

Multiple officers have checked the neighborhood but have not located the suspect.

Detectives from the Robbery Detail and Criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division are en route to the scene to continue the investigation.
