Suspect Arrested in Northeast Portland's King Neighborhood After Threatening to Shoot Safeway Patrons - No Gun Actually Seen (Photo)

On Friday August 8, 2014, at 10:36 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to the Safeway store, located at 5920 Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, on the report that a man across the street was saying he was going to shoot customers and employees.

As officers were en route, they learned that the suspect stole some items from Safeway prior to making the threats.

As officers got into the area, a sergeant saw the suspect run into the neighborhood. A neighborhood perimeter was established and a K-9 Unit responded to assist with the search.

The suspect, 19-year-old Ajyeman Eugene Rober-Warfield, was located and arrested. No gun was ever seen or located by officers.

Rober-Warfield was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Theft in the Third Degree and Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree.
