04/24/2014 Crime Stoppers Featured Case #14-17 Cricket Armed Robbery

The Portland Police Bureau, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help in solving an armed robbery that occurred in the Madison South neighborhood of Northeast Portland.

On April 5, 2014, at 1:06 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the Cricket store, located at 8226 Northeast Fremont Street, on the report of an armed robbery.

Officers arrived and contacted the employee who told police that he locked the door to take the trash out and when he returned to the front door, the suspect was waiting to go inside.*-..

On Friday April 25, 2014, at 6:00 p.m., the 2nd Annual Z-Man Scholarship Foundation - Talent Within competition will be held at City Bible Church, located at 9200 Northeast Fremont Street.

This event is being hosted by the Z-Man Scholarship Foundation and the Portland Police Bureau Youth Services Division and being sponsored by City Bible Church, 98.7 FM "The Bull" and Live 95.5 FM.

04/23/2014 City of Portland Employee Arrested as part of Ongoing Auto Theft Investigation (Photo)

Today, Wednesday April 23, 2014, Portland Police Bureau detectives arrested a 53-year-old City of Portland employee for her role in an ongoing auto theft investigation.

53-year-old Barbara Lorraine Peterson was arrested after arriving at work today at the Portland Bureau of Transportation's (PBOT) Abandoned Auto Section.

Detectives interviewed Peterson then booked her into the Multnomah County Jail on seven counts of Official Misconduct, four counts of Conspiracy to Commit Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle (UUMV) and three counts of UUMV.

Peterson will be arraigned on Thursday in Multnomah County Court.

Detectives conducting a significant auto theft investigation involving several people and locations, including West Coast Car Crushing, learned during that investigation that a City of Portland employee was providing information on abandoned vehicles to an illicit tow driver, who would then steal the cars by towing them to West Coast Car Crushing, where they would be crushed and sold as scrap metal.

Detectives opened a secondary investigation into these allegations and identified Peterson as the City of Portland employee.*-..

04/21/2014 Brick-Throwing Teens Arrested for Assault in Northeast Portland's Eliot Neighborhood

On Sunday April 20, 2014, at 1:21 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to the area of Northeast 7th Avenue and Tillamook Street on the report that two males threw a brick at a bicyclist, striking him in the face.

The victim provided descriptions of the suspects for police and waited for medical personnel to respond to the scene.
