On Wednesday August 26, 2015, at 12:55 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the Multnomah County Central Library, located at 801 Southwest 10th Avenue, after the report that a bystander saw a man drop a handgun outside the library, pick it up and put it into a bag, then go inside the library.

On Wednesday August 26, 2015, at 11:55 p.m., Gang Enforcement Team (GET) officers stopped a vehicle at Southeast 162nd Avenue and Division Street after observing the driver using a cell phone.

Officers contacted the driver, 23-year-old Tyeriece Deshaun Overton, and learned that the he did not have a driver's license or proof of insurance on the car.*-..

08/27/2015 UPDATE: Driver Crashes into Downtown Restaurant, Arrested After Traffic Pursuit (Photo)

The driver that crashed through the window and attempted to elude police was issued several criminal citations after he was transported to a Portland hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

26-year-old Jeff William Sorsdahl was cited for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII), Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver (Hit & Run - four counts), Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangerment (three counts), and Attempt to Elude by Vehicle.

On Wednesday August 26, 2015, at 7:52 p.m., a Central Precinct sergeant was having dinner at E-San Thai, located at 133 Southwest 2nd Avenue, when a car crashed into the restaurant through the Pine Street windows.

The driver pulled the car out and drove away, with the Sergeant chasing him on foot and eventually a bicycle, while broadcasting information for cover officers.

Responding officers saw the vehicle on the Morrison Bridge eastbound and pursued the driver as he drove down the Southeast Water Avenue ramp where the driver crashed the vehicle and attempted to run from the officers.*-..
