03/31/2015 Bike Theft Task Force: A Community Partnership to Reduce Bike Theft in Portland (Photo)

On Tuesday March 31, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. the Portland Police Bureau announced a new initiative to address the growing problem of bike theft in Portland.

The Bicycle Theft Task Force (BTTF) is community/police partnership, involving Jonathan Maus (BikePortland.org), J. Allard (Project529.com), Bryan Hance (BikeIndex.org), Danielle Booth (Portland Bureau of Transportation), and Central Precinct Officers David Sanders and David Bryant.

On Tuesday March 31, 2015, at 6:00 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of a burglary alarm at Maids by Trade, located at 4439 Southeast Johnson Creek Boulevard.

03/30/2015 UPDATE: Suspect in Custody After Jumping into Willamette River to Elude Capture by Police (Photo)

39-year-old Randall Hartwell was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on Sunday evening after being released from the hospital.

Hartwell was charged with Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Escape in the Third Degree, Interfering with a Peace Officer, Furnishing False Information to a Police Officer, Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, Offensive Littering, Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree, and Illegally Jumping from the Seawall.

On Sunday March 29, 2015, at 2:39 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the 2300 block of Southeast Water Avenue, near the Tillikum Crossing bridgehead, on the report of a suspicious subject possibly stealing wire from an electrical box.

03/25/2015 Gang-Related Shooting Investigation Underway in Northeast Portland's King Neighborhood - No Injuries (Photo)

On Wednesday March 25, 2015, at 8:29 p.m., North Precinct and Gang Enforcement Team (GET) officers responded to the report of gunshots into a home in the 4000 block of Northeast Mallory Street.

As officers were responding to the call, they heard gunshots in the area of Northeast Grand Avenue and Alberta Street (related to injury shooting of 38-year-old man). Officers arrived in the area of Northeast Mallory Avenue and Shaver Street and located a home in the 4000 block of Mallory Avenue with a gunshot through a window.

The occupant of the home was not injured by the gunshots.

GET officers are familiar with the residence but have not yet determined if this shooting is related to the shooting that happened minutes later a few blocks away.

The Portland Police Bureau Gang Enforcement Team and Gun Task Force are continuing to actively investigate gang and gun crimes in the City of Portland.*-..
